Boy, things get busy and the blog always seems to get the short end of the stick. I’ll try to be a little more diligent in posting… did I say that before?.?..
Last week we were privileged to spend some time with Sarah and Greg who are getting married this summer.
(Sarah was a brides maid in one of our weddings last year which happened before my blog kicked in. I’ll post pics when their album is being put together.)
They drove up from Tampa and we spent the afternoon hanging out in St. Augustine. We started with a few drinks at the Conch House then headed to the beach. (nothing gets a guy excited about being photographed like a few cold beers)

After the sun went down we headed into the city for some dinner and to check out some of the streets and alleys of the old town.

Downtown Jacksonville is in the midst of a residential renaissance and it seems as if new high-rise or loft projects are being announced every other week. We had the opportunity to attend the VIP Grand Opening Event for The Strand, the first of several tower projects to be completed. There was to be a fireworks display to wrap up the evening and at the last minute Joi and I decided to race across the river to grab a few photos. Of course the show started while we were stuck in traffic and the cross arms at a railroad track crossing almost hit the top of our car as we raced through (that was exciting). But we did manage to screech to the opposite bank with enough time to fire off a couple of shots just before the finale. With the cheers from the crowd in the background as the fireworks finished, we looked at each other, heartbeats still racing, said, “kick ass”, and did a fist bump. Even if we had missed the whole show it was still a fun ride.. but we scored the payoff with the following photo..

We’ve got some pretty exciting projects in the works.. not ”quit your jobs and move to the coast” exciting.. more like, “when I tell you hopefully you’ll think its cool” exciting. Some are still in the brainstorming stages.. some are about finished.. and some haven’t even been thought about yet.. but either way, things are happening so stay tuned.
In other news I wanted to share one of my favorite images from the current album I’m working on. This is a shot of Jessica having her veil put on.

In considering a design of any sort, often times less is more. This principle extends to album layouts and for me this image and spread layout is a perfect example. I love it.
